photo: Syamil RosliThailand has been selected to host the 2018 Thomas Cup and Uber Cup finals by the Badminton World Federation. The Kingdom was picked to stage the 30th Thomas Cup and 27th Uber Cup during a meeting of the governing body's executive members in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, according to Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, president of the Badminton Association of Thailand. They will be the first major international badminton events to be held in Thailand. Thailand's best results were second place in the 1961 Thomas Cup and third place at the 2012 Uber Cup. Also on Saturday, China's Nanjing and Switzerland's Basel were selected to host the 2018 and 2019 world championships respectively.
